All downtown businesses, organizations , groups and families are invited to participate in our ‘Fall in Love with Downtown’ event!

• We will provide the scarecrow frame – you stuff and decorate the scarecrow for display on a downtown lamp post.
• Your organization’s scarecrow will also be featured in CityCenter’s social media and weekly e-newsletter!

CityCenter Danbury wants to help YOU!

CityCenter Danbury strives to enhance and promote our downtown businesses. We have accomplished many projects (with more to come) to improve the overall appearance of our tax district – the home of your business.  Previous efforts include overhead string lighting in alleyways, planter baskets on lamp posts, sculpture pieces, murals, banners, garden improvements and holiday decorations.  Please join us as we beautify our downtown neighborhood!

How It Works:

• Fill out registration form below or submit participation form to CityCenter Danbury by Friday, September 13th.
• Pick-up your scarecrow frame at the CityCenter headquarters, located at 268 Main Street or Call (203) 792-1711 to coordinate pick up.
• Return your decorated scarecrow to the CityCenter no later than Friday, September 27th. Please call ahead to ensure someone is there to receive it.
• Winners will contacted directly contacted through email.

Rules & Criteria:

• Festive Scarecrow Structures Provided: Each participant will receive a 5-foot tall scarecrow frame to get creative with!
• Decorate and Display: Transform your scarecrow into a whimsical work of art! Downtown businesses are encouraged to use their logos for promotional flair. This is a fantastic team-building opportunity for employees!
• Weather-Ready: Ensure your scarecrow can weather the elements! All decorations must be securely attached to stand up to sun, wind, and rain. We reserve the right to remove any entry that cannot be displayed properly.
• Creative Criteria: Scarecrows should be fun, colorful, and imaginative—think whimsical, funny, cute, or historical! Use materials creatively and in an earth-friendly manner. Please avoid anything scary, gruesome, bloody, controversial, religious, or political.
• Prizes Galore:
• First Prize: $500.
• Five Runners-Up: Each will receive a $100 gift certificate to a downtown establishment.
• Craft Your Entry: All scarecrows must be handmade using recycled materials like clothing, hats, straw, and raffia. No real pumpkins, gourds, or electronic/mechanical parts allowed.
• Important Notes:
• CityCenter Danbury and the City of Danbury are not liable for any loss or damage to the scarecrows.
• Special location requests may be considered but are not guaranteed.
• All entries become the property of CityCenter Danbury and will not be returned.
